Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has still to be made public.
A longstanding conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their lawsuit states that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
